On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the citizens of the Federated States of Micronesia on the 30th anniversary of your Independence Day this November 3.

This month also marks the 30th anniversary of the Compact of Free Association between our two countries, which demonstrates the important and long-standing relationship between our people.

The United States and the Federated States of Micronesia share an historical respect for democracy and human rights. Our partnership is broad and deep. In the years ahead, we will continue to work together bilaterally and through institutions such as the United Nations to protect our oceans, promote economic growth, and improve education.

We proudly recognize the continued commitment of the citizens of the Federated States of Micronesia to promote global peace and security through service in the United States Armed Forces.

On this important day, ‎we celebrate our strong and enduring partnership, as well as your rich culture and history. I wish all citizens of the Federated States of Micronesia peace and prosperity in the coming year.
