Susman - State Dept ImageAmbassador Susman is presently on the Board of Directors of Edelman, an Advisor to Henry Crown & Co. and Chairman of CBI Holdings, L.P. Louis served as United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for four years. Louis Susman is non-Executive Chairman and board member of DJE Holdings. Previously, Louis served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom for four years. Before that, he was the managing director and vice chairman of Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking. While at Salomon Brothers, which would later become part of Citigroup, Louis played in an integral role in several major mergers including Dayton Hudson’s purchase of Marshall Field’s and LG Electronics’ acquisition of Zenith Electronics Corporation. He practiced law for 27 years and was a senior partner at the St. Louis-based law firm of Thompson & Mitchell, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law.

Louis was appointed to the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy by Ronald Reagan in 1988, and served as a director of the Center for National Policy in Washington, D.C. In 2004, he worked as John Kerry’s national finance chairman and in 2008, was senior advisor to President Obama during his presidential campaign.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Louis received his law degree from Washington University.
