Women in every country face barriers that hold them back from fully participating in the economy. Yet research shows that when women are empowered to participate in the economy, everyone benefits: families, communities, and countries.

As part of our ongoing work to promote women’s economic participation, the U.S. State Department convened the seventh U.S.-China Women’s Leadership Exchange and Dialogue (WE-LEAD) on June 23, 2015.

This day-long forum brought together government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and members of civil society to share best practices and collaborate on solutions. It took place during the 2015 U.S.-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE).
