Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons Randy Berry Travels to Finland, Estonia, France, and Kazakhstan

Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons Randy Berry will travel to Finland on September 6. At the invitation of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SE Berry will lead the U.S. delegation to the fall 2016 meeting of the Partners Committee of the Global Equality Fund. In coordination with members of the Committee, Special Envoy Berry will meet with individuals and organizations supported by the Fund and will work to identify ways to strengthen our collective response to ongoing and acute challenges facing NGOs, and promoting the rights of LGBTI person and human rights defenders.

Special Envoy Berry will then travel to Estonia for meetings with members of the Estonian parliament, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, civil society organizations, and the press. The Special Envoy will then continue to Paris, for meetings with representatives of international organizations.

In Kazakhstan, the Special Envoy will have a series of meetings with government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and civil society organizations in Astana and Almaty. He will also host a videoconference with civil society and LGBTI activists.
