Under Secretary Sewall To Travel to Kazakhstan

Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will travel to Kazakhstan August 15-17.

In Kazakhstan, Under Secretary Sewall will travel to Almaty and Astana and meet with government officials, religious leaders, and representatives from civil society to discuss countering violent extremism and upholding human rights, including protections for journalists, civil society organizations, and individuals from the LGBTI community. Under Secretary Sewall will also hold a roundtable with members of the press in Astana on Wednesday, August 17.
