From March 14-18, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Charles H. Rivkin will lead the State Department’s “American Innovation Roadshow” across four cities in India: New Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. This trip will focus on nurturing innovation in clean energy technologies in India and is the second in a series of roadshows across Asia, underscoring the importance of the commercial and economic ties between the United States and India.

Assistant Secretary Rivkin will lead a diverse delegation of U.S. energy and infrastructure companies that will engage with central and state government leaders, civil society groups and entrepreneurs. Corresponding with the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the Indian government’s own recent innovation initiative, and joint efforts to address the global challenge of climate change, this trip will showcase the prevailing entrepreneurial cultures in the U.S. and India and spur efforts to advance clean energy technologies.

On March 14-15, the delegation will be in New Delhi for meetings with several central government officials which will be followed by an interactive roundtable with clean energy entrepreneurs in Gurgaon. On March 16, the delegation will travel to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat to meet with government leaders as well as representatives of the business community, and technology business incubators. On March 17-18, the group will be in Hyderabad to meet with state leaders from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as well as visit startup ventures.

The American Innovation Roadshow will help to deepen connections between U.S. and Indian entrepreneurs and promote bilateral trade and investment ahead of the annual U.S.-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue later this year.
