The following is attributable to Dr. Dennis Burke, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Massachusetts General Hospital and Clinical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery, Harvard Medical School:

Secretary of State John Kerry had an uncomplicated recovery from surgery to repair his broken right femur.

He is ambulating independently on crutches and working hard with physical therapy toward a full recovery, which we anticipate will occur in several months’ time.
