Pride at State: Deputy Secretary Higginbottom To Speak at State Department Pride Month Event

Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom will deliver remarks at the Department of State’s "Pride at State" event on Friday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Following her remarks, Mindy Michels of Freedom House will moderate a panel discussion on International Human Rights with guest panelists Pepe Julian Onziema of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) and Boysan Yakar of Lambda Istanbul.

The event is jointly organized by the Department of State and GLIFAA, the officially recognized employee affinity group representing LGBTI employees of the Department of State, USAID, and the foreign affairs agencies.

The event will be open to the press.

Pre-set time for video cameras: 1:15 p.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.

Final access time for journalists and still photographers: 1:45 p.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
