On September 9, Secretary of State John Kerry will depart for travel to Baghdad

In Baghdad, Secretary Kerry will meet with Iraqi Government officials to welcome them on the successful formation of a new government and to discuss how the United States can increase its support to Iraq’s new government in our common effort to defeat ISIL and the threat that it poses to Iraq, the region, and the world.

The Secretary will also discuss his meetings he held with numerous foreign counterparts at the NATO Summit in Wales last week on ISIL with Iraq officials.

In Amman and Jeddah, Secretary Kerry will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts to discuss regional issues and the current situation in Iraq.

In Jeddah, Secretary Kerry will attend a meeting with GCC members and other partners in the region to discuss our common efforts to defeat and ultimately destroy ISIL and the threat that it poses to Iraq, the region, and the world.

After Secretary Kerry's visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, he will travel to Ankara, Turkey to hold meetings with Turkish leaders.

While in Ankara, the Secretary will discuss bilateral and regional issues, including how to promote security and stability in Syria and Iraq.

After visiting Ankara, Turkey, Secretary Kerry will travel to Cairo, Egypt to meet with senior Egyptian officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

After visiting Cairo, Egypt, the Secretary will travel to Paris, France to consult with key partners and allies on how to further support the security and stability of the Iraqi government, combat the threat posed by ISIL, and confront Middle East security challenges. While in Paris, Secretary Kerry will attend the International Conference on Iraq.
