The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and CollegeWeekLive, an online enrollment solutions provider, are partnering to conduct virtual college fairs to encourage more international students to study in the United States. This partnership spotlights the strength and diversity of U.S. higher education and assists the State Department’s EducationUSA network to provide accurate, current, and comprehensive information on U.S. higher education to students around the world. While making up less than four percent of students enrolled in U.S. higher education, international students studying in the United States contributed more than $24 billion to the U.S. economy last year.

The State Department and CollegeWeekLive will work together on region-specific and global virtual college fairs. Using a digital platform has expanded the network’s reach, including a flagship virtual fair during International Education Week (IEW) each year in November. The virtual fair during IEW 2013 attracted 22,000 participants from over 200 countries who visited the virtual booths of 104 participating U.S. colleges and universities.

Upcoming fairs include:

August 13 (Global Fair: International Student Day)
October 1 (Regional Fair: Europe, Middle East, and Africa International Student Day)
October 14 (Regional Fair: Latin America International Student Day)
November 19 (Flagship Global Fair: International Student Day -- IEW)

The State Department promotes education diplomacy by supporting the EducationUSA network of more than 400 advising centers in 170 countries around the world. Each year, millions of students receive information on how to apply to accredited U.S. colleges and universities from EducationUSA advisers.

CollegeWeekLive enables students to live chat with admissions representatives and students from hundreds of U.S. universities and to watch presentations from education experts on topics such as mastering the SATs/ACTs, writing a standout college essay, choosing a college, and more.

International students or U.S. higher education institutions interested in learning more about EducationUSA should visit the EducationUSA website. International students or U.S. higher education institutions who would like to participate in a virtual fair should contact EducationUSA or CollegeWeekLive.
