Hungary Joins G8 Global Partnership as 27th Member
The U.S. Department of State congratulates Hungary for becoming the 27th member of the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction (Global Partnership) on December 12. As an active member of the nonproliferation community, Hungary’s membership marks a welcome addition to the Global Partnership, a Working Group of the G8, which addresses through the funding and coordination of cooperative projects nuclear and radiological security, biosecurity, chemical security, and scientist engagement; and facilitates the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540. The United Kingdom currently chairs the Global Partnership.
