Assistant Secretary for Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) Rick Barton will travel to Burma March 15-24 and to Hawaii March 24-25.

In Burma, Assistant Secretary Barton will meet with civil society, mine action implementers, ethnic group representatives, and local and national political leaders to discuss U.S. government efforts – in coordination with the Government of Burma, ethnic minorities, and international partners – to assist people living in landmine-contaminated areas. These efforts aim to build trust through mine risk education programs and support to survivors of landmine incidents.

In Hawaii, the Assistant Secretary will meet with representatives of U.S. Pacific Command as well as deliver remarks at the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Pacific Forum and the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies.
