U.S. Secretary of State Clinton and Liberian President Sirleaf Meet for Partnership Dialogue
On January 15, 2013 Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf launched the U.S.-Liberia Partnership Dialogue to ensure high-level diplomatic and economic cooperation between the United States and Liberia. The ceremony included a signing of a Statement of Intent between the two countries that will serve as a platform for future bilateral engagement primarily in the areas of agriculture and food security; energy and power; and human development.
The United States and the Republic of Liberia share a longstanding relationship and mutual commitment to the advancement of democracy, stability and prosperity. Since the end of Liberia’s civil war in 2003, significant steps have been taken by the two countries to strengthen democracy and to promote a business environment conducive to trade and investment.
