Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman to Travel to Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Macedonia

Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman will travel to Stockholm, Sweden from November 12-13; London, United Kingdom from November 14-15 and Skopje, Macedonia on November 16, 2012.

In Stockholm, Special Adviser Rahman will lead a “Diversity Dialogue” with a variety of representatives from the private sector, academia, government and civil society to discuss the role young entrepreneurs can play in fostering integration. She will meet with the Embassy’s Youth Council, comprised of a cross-section of youth advisers representing student organizations, political parties, non-profit organizations, think-tanks and the media. The Special Adviser will also visit “Fryshuset,” a large youth center in Stockholm that develops programs to engage urban and suburban youth.

While in London, Special Adviser Rahman will engage with leaders who work on youth-related issues, including government members, school community groups, civil society, think-tank representatives, and business leaders. On November 15, she will speak at a “Democracy Class” for youth at Google Headquarters along with Heather Smith, the CEO of Rock the Vote.

In Macedonia, Special Adviser Rahman will visit four USAID-sponsored youth programs. At South Eastern European University in Tetovo, she will take part in series of discussions with young leaders, students, and civil society groups. Special Adviser Rahman will lead a meeting with Embassy Skopje’s Youth Council, which will include participation by Embassy Riga’s Youth Council via digital video conference, and will attend a reception in her honor with youth leaders and government representatives.
