The U.S. Department of State Celebrates International Education Week 2012: Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society
The U.S. Department of State celebrates International Education Week, November 12–16, with the theme of “International Education: Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society.” The week is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. The U.S. Department of State will lead events worldwide focusing on the vital role of international education in economic prosperity and advancing the United States’ foreign policy goals.
On November 13, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Ann Stock and Allan Goodman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Education (IIE), will host the Open Doors Report press briefing at the National Press Club at 9:30 a.m. to kick off International Education Week. Also on November 13, the U.S. Department of State, in partnership with CollegeWeekLive, will host the first ever EducationUSA International Virtual College Fair for international audiences. This free online event promotes U.S. higher education institutions, and answers questions from international students about American universities’ admissions processes, program information, and student life in the United States.
