Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Heumann to Travel to Finland and Russia
Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Judith Heumann is traveling to Finland and Russia from September 20 to October 4.
From September 20-27, Special Advisor Heumann travels to Finland, where she will meet with Finnish government officials to share U.S. experience in promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, explore opportunities for collaboration, and promote international implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPRD). Special Advisor Heumann will also meet with civil society groups.
From September 27 to 30, Special Advisor Heumann will travel to St. Petersburg where she will meet with St. Petersburg government officials. Ms. Heumann will participate in two roundtables, one with Russian NGOs and one with students, hosted by the U.S. Consulate. Ms. Heumann will tour a school where she will discuss inclusive education.
Special Advisor Heumann will travel to Moscow from September 30 to October 4. She will meet with government officials, Paralympics and Sochi Olympics organizers, and with NGOs; and meet with parents and children at a school.
