Foreign Ambassadors Travel to Alaska for Experience America Trip

The Office of the Chief of Protocol’s Diplomatic Partnerships Division will lead its latest Experience America trip to Alaska with members of the Diplomatic Corps and their spouses from June 21st -24th, 2011.

Working closely with Senators Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski, Governor Sean Parnell and many other both public and private sector officials and organizations in the state, the Office of the Chief of Protocol has organized a substantive, unique and exciting trip to plant the seeds of new international partnerships and provide our visitors with a deeper understanding and appreciation of America’s people, culture and institutions.

The longest Experience America trip to date, the Ambassadors will criss-cross Alaska, beginning in Anchorage, travel up to the North Slope and Barrow and finally to Seward and Resurrection Bay. With each city visited, we will meet with leaders on energy & natural resources, the Alaska Native community, tourism & economic development and much more to create new mutually beneficial partnerships.

Experience America is organized by the Diplomatic Partnerships Division of the Office of the Chief of Protocol whose mission is to foster international goodwill and cultivate the relationship between the Diplomatic Corps and the people and institutions of the United States through an exchange of ideas, cultures and traditions. Alaska was voted by the Diplomatic Corps as their number one destination for Experience America. This is the seventh Experience America trip and third of this Administration. Other destinations included California, Texas, Florida, New York City, Chicago and Atlanta.
