Secretary Clinton to Present 2010 Awards for Corporate Excellence on December 17
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will present the twelfth annual Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) on December 17. The ceremony will take place at approximately 12:00 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the Department of State.
The three 2010 ACE winners will be announced from among the 12 finalists: Alta Ventures in Mexico, Cisco in Israel, Coca-Cola in Swaziland, Denimatrix in Guatemala, Fiji Water in Fiji, GE in India, Intel in Costa Rica, Mars, Inc. in Ghana, PepsiCo in India, Qualcomm in China, Synopsys in Armenia and Tang Energy in China.
The prestigious and competitive ACE is designed to recognize the important role that U.S. businesses play in advancing good corporate governance and democratic principles worldwide. The award honors exemplary business practices, corporate responsibility and innovation in a company’s overseas operations.
This year, a record number of 78 nominations were received for American companies operating in 46 different countries. The winners were chosen by the Principals’ Award Selection Committee. The Committee includes Under Secretary for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs Robert Hormats (Chair), Under Secretary for Global Affairs Maria Otero, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Judith McHale and other senior Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development officials. Representatives from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Department of Commerce also serve on the Commission.
After the Secretary announces the 2010 ACE winners in Washington, digital video conferences will allow the U.S. Ambassadors and local company executives at the U.S. Embassies and Consulates that submitted the winning nominations to participate in the ceremony.
The ceremony is open to credentialed members of the media.
