Conference on CAFTA-DR Environmental Cooperation: Partnering for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development
A CAFTA-DR Environmental Partners Fair will be held in connection with the conference on January 20. Sessions on January 21 and 22 will highlight the approximately 80 environmental cooperation projects implemented in the region over the past five years. A Pathways to Prosperity Dialogue on Public Participation in Sustainable Development is scheduled to occur on January 22.
To date, U.S. agencies have dedicated more than $62 million to support environmental cooperation in the CAFTA-DR region. The overarching objective of this cooperation is to advance efforts by partnering countries to strengthen institutions for effective implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, protect biodiversity, increase market-based conservation, and improve private sector environmental performance.
