Max Bergmann covers Political-Military Affairs and Nonproliferation. He previously served as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security, as a speechwriter to Secretary of State John Kerry, and as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs. Prior to joining the Department, he worked at the Center for American Progress as a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Policy Analyst, and was formerly the Deputy Policy Director at the National Security Network. He received his master’s degree from the London School of Economics in Comparative Politics and his B.A. from Bates College.
