Shehzi Khan

Ms. Shehzi Khan works on Pakistan, Afghanistan, cross-cutting South and Central Asia issues and the Arabian Peninsula portfolio for the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State. Ms. Khan’s particular research area of interest is political Islam. She previously served as an Executive Officer to the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence. Ms. Khan was also a senior South Asia analyst at the Department of State, and briefed the President of the United States in 2013. She has focused on South Asia professionally for 15 years. She also worked at the Department of Defense and Department of Justice. She was posted at the U.S. Consulate in Lahore, Pakistan and at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing China, and has also lived and worked in Islamabad, Pakistan; India; Egypt; France; and New Zealand. Ms. Khan is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii. She speaks five foreign languages, and holds an MBA in International Finance and an MA in International Relations. In 2014, she was named State Department’s “Analyst of the Year” for her work on the South Asian region.
