Roopa Rangaswamy covers Egypt, Libya, and Yemen. Previously, she served in the Near East Bureau in a variety of capacities including as Director of the Office of the Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, Chief of Staff to the Special Coordinator for Egypt Transition Issues, and senior advisor on Iran. Previous assignments include, special assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs, director of the office responsible for terrorism designations and multilateral issues for the Counterterrorism Coordinator, Middle East nonproliferation officer, and legislative staff to Senator Frank Lautenberg. Ms. Rangaswamy has a graduate degree from Columbia University.
