Carol Z. Perez assumed her duties in the DGHR Front Office in January 2015. Prior to her assignment to DGHR, Ms. Perez was the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Ms. Perez is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. She previously served overseas as the Consul General at U.S. Consulates General Milan and Barcelona and at Embassies Madrid and Rome. She speaks Spanish and Italian.
Domestic assignments include Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Executive Director and Deputy Executive Secretary in the Executive Secretariat supporting Secretaries Albright, Powell and Rice and as Office Director for the Secretariat Staff Office.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Perez received her undergraduate degree from Hiram College in Ohio and her Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from the George Washington University.
