CANDIDATE: Linda Swartz Taglialatela

Linda Swartz Taglialatela, a career member of the Senior Executive Service and former Foreign Service Officer, currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Human Resources, a position she has held since 2002. During her 36 years of service to the Department, Ms. Taglialatela has amassed an outstanding record of performance, leadership, and accomplishments. Excelling at resource management, goal setting, delivering results and team building, she is a proven senior leader with the right combination of problem-solving, creativity, and interpersonal skills that will serve her well as Chief of Mission both inside and outside the Mission in Bridgetown.

Ms. Taglialatela previously served as both Director (1996–2001) and Deputy Director (1989–1996), Office of Resource Management and Organization Analysis, Bureau of Human Resources. Prior to that, she was Counselor for Administration, U.S. Embassy Bern, Switzerland (1987–1989), Administrative Officer, Bureau of International Communications and Information Policy, Washington, D.C. (1984–1987), and Audit Qualified Inspector/Special Assistant, Office of the Inspector General, Washington, D.C. (1979–1984). Before joining the Department of State, she served as Supervisory Management Analyst, U.S. Government Accountability Office (1973–1979).

Ms. Taglialatela earned an Associates of Arts from Broome Community College in 1969, a B.A. in Economics from State University College of New York in 1971, and a M.B.A from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1973. She is a three-time recipient of Presidential Rank awards including both Distinguished and Meritorious Service awards and other Department awards.
