The Office of Economic Policy Analysis and Public Diplomacy (EPPD), led by Director Marc Dillard, promotes sound economic policymaking by managing cross-cutting issues, including: strategic planning; economic analysis; public affairs; the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); and promoting responsible business conduct, including by providing mediation.

Bringing strategic focus and new ideas to improve our economic policy: EPPD’s Policy Analysis team produces analysis for decision-makers and convenes outside experts to inform a rapidly changing policy process. EPPD leads the U.S. relationship with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on vital international economic issues by coordinating policy toward the OECD across the U.S. Government. EPPD manages the State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy (ACIEP).

Telling our story at home and abroad: The public diplomacy team supports the goals of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs through outreach to foreign and domestic audiences, including speaking engagements; media events, releases and interviews; articles, fact sheets and op-eds; social media communications; and an internal website that provides information to State Department economic officers worldwide.

Promoting Responsible Business Conduct: The Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) team engages the private sector, labor groups, non-governmental organizations and other governments by providing guidance, promotion and support for responsible business practices. The RBC team also manages the Secretary of State’s annual Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) program and leads the Department’s efforts on the National Action Plan on Responsible Business Conduct. The team also houses the U.S. National Contact Point, meeting the U.S. government obligation to provide a mechanism for the resolution of disputes arising under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
